What Does “Holistic” Mean?

The term “holistic” is often used in various contexts. At  our clinic, we use the term “holistic” to mean integrated care under one roof. This approach recognizes that different systems in the body are interconnected and influence each other. By understanding these interactions, we aim to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care that considers the whole person—physically, emotionally, and mentally—ensuring each patient receives well-rounded and effective treatment.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a complex neurological condition that extends beyond visible symptoms like tremors and walking difficulties. PD is now understood as a neuropsychiatric condition, given the complex cognitive and emotional challenges it presents. Symptoms like anxiety, depression, and apathy are common, and in some cases, these psychological symptoms may even precede motor issues. Additionally, holistic care in PD focuses on aspects such as nutrition, physiotherapy, sleep management, and mental health, ensuring comprehensive support for both motor and non-motor symptoms.
